SCULLY SR., ROBERT J. “Bob”

SCULLY SR., ROBERT J. Robert J. Scully Sr. (Bob) – 90 of North Wildwood, NJ, was called home on March 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Somers Point, NJ ~ son of the late Joseph and Helen (Corr) Scully. The patriarch of the Scully Family will be sorely missed by many, but none more than Kitty (Dickson), his wife of 69 years, and his four children: Bob Jr. (Cindy) Scully, Lee (Chip) McEntee, Lori (Jim) Flynn, and Linda (Bob) Williams. His legacy will carry on with those who called him Pops, his 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob lived his life in the Wildwoods. He graduated Wildwood Catholic HS and Villanova University, married his high school sweetheart then proudly served in the US Army (1955-1957). He returned to Wildwood to raise his family and join his father and brother as a General Contractor. Over the years he built many houses, motels, and boardwalk stores. He designed & built their 1st home as well as the home where he lived out his life.
Bob’s life was filled with many great friends, cherished moments, and exceptional experiences. He was an active member of the community having been involved in, the Knights of Columbus, President of Jaycees, Volunteer Fire Fighter, Union Trust Company Board of Directors, Wildwood Urban Renewal Board, North Wildwood Zoning Board, Wildwood Catholic Booster Club, Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, the Wildwood Marble Tournament and the Wildwood Baby Parade. He dabbled in the restaurant business as co-owner of The Two Mile Inn and was the developer / proprietor of The Wharf.
Bob loved the ocean, appreciated sailing, boating & fishing. Travel and photos were favorite pastimes as well. In retirement he enjoyed many years being a Florida snowbird. As a recreational pilot, he traveled to Florida via biplane, boat and RV. He was President / Curator of the Wildwood Historical Society and co-authored two Wildwood history books. He also documented the Scully lineage back to 1645 thru research & various trips to Ireland.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law Catherine (GG) McManus
(2005) and his grandson Andrew Ritchey (2021).
Mass and Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 8th at St Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 2901 Atlantic Avenue, Wildwood, NJ, with visitation from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
