Santa Visits Boy With Leukemia

Craig Miller
Santa Claus, on vacation in Stone Harbor, paid Joey a visit to lighten his mood. Joey has suffered from leukemia and has lived at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia his whole life.

Santa, thanks to the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce, made a merry visit to Joey, a 7-year-old boy whose family was visiting Stone Harbor for their week-long family vacation in late July. Joey has been cared for at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia his entire life since being born with multiple debilitating and rare conditions. In October 2022, his health challenges increased significantly when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Santa gave Joey gifts and brought a big smile to his face.

Joey was selected as one of the hospital’s ambassadors for the Parkway Run and Walk 5k, which raises funds for pediatric cancer research, this September. If anyone would like to support Joey, they can join Team Joe Cool by visiting parkway.chop.edu and donating to “Team Joe Cool.”
