Cape Regional Health System congratulates Rubye Hutchinson, CARES Recovery Specialist for being honored at the NAACP Freedom Fund Gala earlier this month. Since May 2019, Rubye has served as a Certified Recovery Specialist with the Cape Addiction Recovery Program (CARES) at Cape Regional Medical Center.
Rubye Dyann Hutchinson is a proud, lifelong resident of Woodbine, NJ. She was raised in a close-knit family and is one of six children. From her childhood years, Rubye shares that she has always tried to have a strong sense of empathy and a commitment to positively impact the lives of those around her. Rubye earned an Associate Degree in Human Services and holds a certificate as an Addiction Counseling Specialist from Atlantic Cape Community College.
“My personal and transformative journey in recovery reflects the resilience and determination my family and community have taught me,” stated Hutchinson. “My dedication to sobriety has reshaped my life and inspires others who are grappling with similar struggles.”
Within her community, Rubye is known as a woman of Christian faith, an advocate, an academic achiever, and a community leader who works towards improving the City of Woodbine. Rubye runs the Inside-Out Prison Ministry through her church, Horne’s Temple Lighthouse Deliverance Ministry, and on a weekly basis serves the inmates at Cape May County’s Correctional Facility. Also, Rubye facilitates weekly Life Recovery Groups held at the Lighthouse Church in Cape May Court House, NJ.
“One of the things I am most proud of is when I re-established the Boy Scouts of America in Woodbine as a Charter Representative and eventual Cubmaster for Pack 77 and Troop 77,” stated Hutchinson. “My great hope is that my commitment to this organization has help to instill valuable life skills and principles in the younger generation.”
Rubye states that she finds immense joy and fulfillment in her role as a proud mother to her two daughters, Malekia and Felish Watkins and her three grandchildren, Neriah, Ayanna, and Luis.
