OCEAN CITY – The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced that power wash work will require the closing of the Route 52 Causeway shared-use sidewalk path between Somers Point and Ocean City. The work is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2024, through Friday, April 19, 2024.

To safely access the sidewalk, the NJDOT’s maintenance crew will need to close the sidewalk and the right lane of vehicle traffic during three stages:

  • Stage 1: April 2 to 5
  • Stage 2: April 8 to 12
  • Stage 3: April 15 to 19

On those days, the right lane of traffic will be closed only during construction hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). The shared-use path will remain closed for the entire period of each stage. It will reopen on weekends.

The schedule may be adjusted if work is completed more quickly. Variable message sign (VMS) boards and right-lane closure signs have been installed at the bridge to alert motorists of the upcoming sidewalk closures.
