The emergency sewer project on Route 109, which will require a detour for commercial vehicles, that was scheduled to begin today (Feb. 23) in Lower Township, Cape May County has been postponed. NJDOT will provide an update once the work is rescheduled.

This work is part of a Cape May County sewer project that will repair and replace sewage facilities as needed along Route 109 in Lower Township. Emergency construction is expected to take place 24 hours a day for seven days a week until all work is completed. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays when driving through the work zone, or plan an alternate route.

Variable messaging signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on X (Twitter) @NewJerseyDOT or on the NJDOT Facebook page.
