COURT HOUSE – The long-anticipated resurfacing improvements to Goshen Road Phase 1 are scheduled to begin on July 24, 2024, and are expected to proceed through the fall. This road project will be completed in two stages to minimize traffic impacts. The first stage of roadway reconstruction will extend from Dias Creek Road up to Railroad Avenue and includes extensive drainage improvements, the removal of underlying concrete slabs and roadway excavation, concrete curb and sidewalk replacements and asphalt paving. To safely complete the work, Goshen Road will be closed to thru traffic and traffic will detour around the work zone for Stage 1.

The detour will be in place beginning on July 24, 2024, and will remain in place for the Stage 1 project limits until early September. Through traffic will be detoured continuously; however, local residents and businesses will always have access to their properties.

Beginning on July 24, 2024, traffic wishing to access Goshen Road and travel north on Goshen Road will be directed to Mechanic Street (CR 615) to Dias Creek Road (CR 612) and then to Hand Avenue (CR 658) where they will be directed northwest to Route 47.

Traffic heading south on Route 47 and wishing to turn south onto Goshen Road will be directed to continue heading south along Route 47 to Hand Avenue. Traffic will then be directed to head east along Hand Avenue to Dias Creek Road. Non-through traffic will be permitted to head south along Goshen Road from Route 47 up to Railroad Avenue at which point there will be a full closure of Goshen Road.  Residents will be permitted to enter the work zone to access their homes, however traffic will not be permitted to proceed any further than Railroad Avenue during Stage 1 construction.

Goshen Road will remain open to local traffic only during this roadway reconstruction. All residents will always have access to their homes. School buses, emergency vehicles, and trash trucks will be able to enter the work zone. All motorists entering the work zone should proceed with caution and should expect delays. The detour is expected to last for about 5 weeks. Stage 2 work, which extends from Railroad Avenue to north of Timothy Lane, will proceed thereafter under a separate traffic control set up with details being provided at that time.
