PICANZA, JR., JIM V. Jim V. Picanza, Jr., 88 of Stone Harbor, NJ was peacefully called home by our Heavenly Father on November 22, 2023. For 61 years, he was the beloved Husband to Linda M. (née Wood). He was a loving Father to Lisa Picanza Burkhead, Jeannette Picanza Sabatini (Charles), and James V.W. Picanza (Christine) and a proud Grandfather to Robert Burkhead (Nicole), Matthew Burkhead, Nicholas Sabatini, Mark Sabatini, Cameron Picanza and Ashley Picanza. Close family, Robert F. Burkhead. He was a caring Brother to Mary Jean Picanza and Rosemary Picanza Leash. Jim's life was a testimony to his strong faith in God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be forever missed in his family's hearts. At the time of his passing, he was living in Stone Harbor, NJ, and he loved when family came to visit. He always took an interest inwhat was happening in their lives and enjoyed sharing his faith, professional experiences and musical interests with them all. Jim was born December 24, 1934 in Altoona, PA. He graduated from Altoona Catholic High School and went on to enlist in the Army, where he became a Sergeant, serving four years. There he met his lifelong friend, Alex Selian, who was like a brother to him. After the Army, he attended St. Francis College, in Loretto, PA, where he was President of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and graduated with an Accounting Degree. He went on to work for the IRS and then Price Waterhouse, both in Philadelphia. He left Price Waterhouse to join Pitcairn Company as head of their Tax Accounting Department. Retiring from Pitcairn, Jim started his own accounting firm in Moorestown, NJ, with his long-time associate, Mary Scout. Jim and Linda raised their children in Moorestown and made lasting friendships with their neighbors. Jim also enjoyed playing his trumpet in the Moorestown Community Band. In his later years, Jim left his accounting firm to live permanently in Stone Harbor. Stone Harbor had been part of his life since his parents had a summer home there. As a teen, he worked as a stock boy for his future in-laws at J.G. Wood's 5 & 10. There he met Linda, who would become his wife. Together, they had many happy years in Stone Harbor. Jim played trumpet with the John Walter Cape Community Band and sang in The Angelus Choir, where he had many treasured friends. Jim was very thankful for the guidance he received from church leadership and fellow believers who helped strengthen his faith.Throughout his life, wherever he lived, Jim was blessed with wonderful friends. He thanked the Lord every day for their love and support. We, his family, want to share that our hearts are warmed by the many expressions of sympathy we have received. Many expressed that Jim was a "true gentleman," and we agree. Services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ, 08210.
