RICHARD DANIEL
Richard Daniel Pedroni 81, of Avalon, passed away on Saturday, August 16th from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was pre-deceased by his parents Lydia and Daniel Pedroni, as well as his wives Mary Patricia Robertson and Mary Linda Markle. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Schiela and her husband Eric, Jacqueline Pedroni -Smith, and Kelly Pfeiffer and her husband Drew, as well as his brother Joseph Pedroni and his wife Valerie and his sister Lois Scarpa and her husband Carman. He is also survived by his step-sons Brian Markle and his wife Betsy, David Markle and his wife Anne and Steven Markle and his wife Alicia as well as his seven grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Richard along with his brother Joe was owner, operator of Pedroni Fuel Company, a fuel distribution company, founded by their father in 1948, and which is located in Vineland, NJ. He was a member of the Avalon Yacht Club and former member of the Avalon School Board. He was also a real estate professional and a founding partner, along with Roger Stobbart, of First Eastern Realty with offices in Avalon and Sea Isle City and later along with his wife Pat started Clermont Nine Real Estate in Dennis Township which his daughter Kim later took over. His real estate focus was land development. Some of his many projects were Ravenwood, Ravenwood East, Oceanview Business Park, Clermont Business Park, Ocean View Driving Range, Clermont Driving Range, several gas stations, and self-storage units.
He and Pat also started Meadow Creek Farms in Dennis Township, where they bred and raced thoroughbred horses as well as show horses which his daughters Jacque and Kelly rode successfully in many competitions.
He spent his early years in Vineland, NJ graduating from Sacred Heart Grammar School in 1958 and Sacred Heart High School in 1962. He was a four-year varsity athlete in High School playing both basketball and baseball. He attended Saint Vincent's College, Lasalle College and Drexel University.
Mass for Richard will be held on Thursday, August 28th at 11:00 at Maris Stella Church, 49th St and Dune Drive, Avalon. Viewing will begin at 10:00.
