COURT HOUSE – At the end of its Sept. 6 agenda, Middle Township Committee went into a closed session on pending litigation. At issue is the lawsuit brought by Garden State Outdoor LLC. The company is an outdoor advertising firm wishing to erect a large, electronic billboard on Route 47 in Rio Grande.

Garden State Outdoor LLC filed suit just one month after the Middle Township Zoning Board of Adjustment denied the company’s request. A second firm, Pacific Outdoor Advertising, also filed suit against Middle for having its request for a similar electronic billboard erected on Stone Harbor Boulevard denied. That remains a separate litigation.

Superior Court records show the next step in the Garden State Outdoor LLC lawsuit is oral arguments, which have been scheduled for Oct. 6.
