To The Editor:
The front-page photograph in the March 10 edition of the Herald of the young lady and young man modeling the latest prom fashions caught my attention, as it should have.
The dress worn by the young lady was stunning and clearly defined, while the young man’s outfit was lacking in details, except for the fact that it appeared that his trousers were falling down and gathering around his ankles.
I had to restrain the urge to call into the photo for the fellow to pull his trousers up. As a young man, if I had worn this ill- fitting outfit to my prom, the derision would have been heard far and wide with the constant comment to pull my trousers up.
Is the bad taste in street fashions influencing the good taste of formal wear that much? While formal wear need not be stiff and uncomfortable, I still can’t envision formal overalls at formal affairs.
