To The Editor:
I am writing to defend the Morey Organization in reference to the tragic accident on the Ferris wheel. I cannot imagine the dreadful grief the fam-ily of the little girl who died is going through. Our prayers are with them all.
I also have to mention the history of the Morey family. I knew the par-ents and family of the Morey brothers who now own and operate the amusement piers. They all have always been hard workers and good busi-nessmen. They have never been careless or thoughtless.
This girl must have stood up, leaned over, lost her balance — hence her fall. The ride itself did not push her in any direction. Please stop blaming the Moreys for her dreadful fate. They never ever imagined this tragedy would happen.
Parents, please accept this fact, even if it’s hard to do. Don’t make good people go through the courts and a trial. It will be difficult for you and them. I repeat: The Moreys are good people. Don’t make them or your-self suffer any more
