To the Editor:
As I am reading my morning devotion, I am saddened and concerned with its content. It was written by a person in Russia. The statement that took my breath away was “there were three generations without Christianity.” The Communist Party had forbidden it.
I’m sure there were families who secretly carried it on to the best of their ability, but to think one type of government can do this is frightening.
I look at America and see churches closing. I see a government that is preaching political correctness, and I worry. We can’t have crosses and nativity scenes. Where does it stop? When will we as a people stand up for our rights?
Christians are not the enemy. I fear the absence of love and the thriving of hate. I will not force my belief on you, but in return I expect the right to enjoy my faith with open expression. That is the foundation of America.
I pray every day for America and our churches. We are in serious need of healing. Let us not forget our God-given right of freedom of speech and the love of our Lord and country.
