Why Won’t Van Drew Support Veterans?

Letters to the Editor 2019

By Michael Makara, Mays Landing

To the Editor:
Congressmen should only be judged by the votes they cast. Jeff Van Drew has failed the veterans in his district. He shows up at VFWs and veterans’ events but when it comes to actually doing something for the vets, he fails.
Jeff Van Drew voted against the burn pit bill. This is a bill that eventually passed and was signed by President Biden. Hundreds of thousands of vets around the country, many who live in Van Drew’s district, have started to benefit from this bill. Van Drew never explained his vote.
Now, he has voted in favor of the McCarthy MAGA debt bill that is going to reduce funds to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) by 22%.
Congressman Van Drew must be held accountable for these votes. He must be questioned. Vets need support.
