Why Does the Right Hate President Obama?

By Daignault

To the Editor:
When you have the level of disrespect shown to this man who was twice elected with more than 50 percent of the vote, you know it is hatred.
During the speech before congress where President George W. Bush talked about Iraq having nuclear weapons, not one member of the Democratic Party yelled “You lie!”
When Ronald Reagan was selling arms to the contras not once did a member of the Democratic Party question the Gipper’s patriotism. Never did Governor Ed Rendell nor any other Democratic governor wag their finger at President George H. W. Bush.
No left leaning pundit has ever given George W. Bush a nickname like “the food stamp president.” They never said he “doesn’t get America.” Let’s face it, the one time that President George W. Bush was scrutinized about anything (that he went AWOL during his military service), the right forced CBS to fire the man who broke the story, Dan Rather.
This has been going on even before President Obama. During his campaign for the White House, Senator John McCain defended the then Senator against a woman who claimed he was a Muslim (which, last time I checked, is not against the law).
Donald Trump and Sheriff Joe Arprio, to this day still question the place of President Obama’s birth, even though, like Texas Senator Ted Cruz, he had a parent who is an American Citizen, thus eligible to be president.
Nobody on the right dared to be critical of President Ronald Reagan or President George H. W. Bush gave amnesty to 4,000 illegal aliens by executive order. Speaking of executive orders, President Obama issued 53 executive orders during his first term, compared to 118 for President George W. Bush’s first, 166 for President George H. W. Bush’s term and 168 during President Ronald Reagan’s first term.
This is a time where the GOP set records for the number of filibusters, voted 50+ times in four years to repeal the Affordable Care Act (a plan that was the creation of the right leaning Heritage Foundation and signed into law by GOP Governor Mitt Romney), shut down the government (again to overturn the ACA), held the credit of the U.S. hostage unless the “Bush era tax cuts” were extended.
My question is why are they doing that?
