Where’s Puerto Rico’s Aid?

By Joe Murphy, Town Bank

To the Editor:
I’m disappointed in the state of hearing only words of aid for our citizens in Puerto Rico. I see very little being effectively done to help them.
Here are some suggestions: All of our branches of the military have cargo planes that can be packed with pallets of needed material, and then dropped by parachutes into selected areas of need for local officials to collect and distribute. The Navy has troop transport ships that can be used for help to evacuate citizens.
Where are the rescue helicopters seen in Houston? With bad roads, they could be used to transport critical patients from hospitals to better facilities. Parachute drops and helicopters overcome bad roads.
I have little faith seeing empty suits sitting around a table discussing what has to be done only to the point of intestinal problems. Either they are bad advisors or the one they advise isn’t listening and doesn’t know what to ask.
