Where is my America?

By Weiss

To The Editor:
Where is my America? We reward our government $750 million a year for their special projects, known as earmarks, while our homes are up for sheriff sale. US companies have no penalties while outsourcing jobs to other countries, and our unemployment rate is at record numbers.
Our Treasury Secretary is now looking to allow banks to keep more assets on hand as a buffer against yet another financial crisis while he himself is not penalized for tax fraud. Our bailout money to help financial institutions, insurance giants and oil big wigs has once again taken care of the greedy and wealthy while we scramble to make our mortgage payments and feed our children. Why is it that we have had no vote on that bailout/tarp?
Our government is looking to give another $165 billion to labor unions in order to secure their pension funds. Look up the pension benefit guarantee corporation, once again off the sweat of our backs.
Doctors work in border-states overrun with illegals. They’re having eight babies and we give them approximately $1,500 for each.
Immigrants over 65 can get more social security and Medicaid than a woman who has worked in America from 1944 until 2004. Refugees can get a monthly allowance of $2,470 per month.
Why is it, then, that we have two political parties? Are we not here for the common good of all men? Our constitution has nothing in it authorizing the federal government to bailout banks and take over health care or the auto industry.
In Cape May County alone, which is 510, 380 square miles, the population to date is 96, 422. Our cost of living is 26.65% than the US average. So lets look at a central station for our police, fire, road department, etc. We could have smaller substations throughout the county and save billions. There are 16 municipalities in Cape May County alone.
We have a government that thus far has paid $69 million and growing to an oil giant for a disaster that will devastate our lives and future generations forever.
In 2006 our negative export to China was $243,100,000. In 2007 it was $258,506,000. In 2008: $268,039,000. 2009: $226, 877, 000, and as of April, 2010: 71,016,000. Note, I said negative. Let us really pay attention to who is trying to own America. This is an important factor in making a country survive on its own two feet.
We are trying to build our businesses in the United States, yet you crucify us in health care premiums and co-payments while you give away what is rightfully ours to illegal immigrants and welfare recipients. If you want our welfare and free medical, be sure you have paid for it, can speak English, and have mandatory drug tests every six months; otherwise, I’d surely like the free ride. I do believe all American taxpayers should be entitled to quality health care, the same for everyone as long as you have paid your equal share into the system. I’m tired of chicken and hot dogs while the person in front of me in the grocery line is eating surf and turf on my dime once again. We won’t mention the amount of fraud in Medicare; let’s just say it’s in the billions.
So lets put the billions into perspective. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age. A billion dollars ago was only 10 hours and 20 minutes at the rate our government is spending it. The Louisiana senator is asking Congress for $250 billion in grants to rebuild New Orleans. If you have one of the 188,250 in New Orleans, your home gets $1,329,787.
So when you look at our flag, do you ever wonder who paid for it and who still is? I don’t need limousines, caviar, china, or $25, 000 luxury trips. I just need to keep my home, feed my children, and have free health care.
To you numbers mean nothing, but to us it is a matter of life and death. When is the time to question whether working ourselves to death is a good thing? I ask again, “Where is my America?”
