My younger years were spent
At Wildwood by the Sea
The ocean and the boardwalk
Meant a whole lot to me
I’d swim and splash in the ocean
It was so very much fun
And I’d lie on the beach
Getting tan under the summer sun
The ocean was a friend
And all enjoyed it so
It kept us cool in summer
We’d watch it ebb and flow
But last week it became anger
Its waves crashed over land
The wind it blew so hard
Some houses just couldn’t stand
It couldn’t take the battering
That this storm was handing out
The water covered a lot of land
The fear was all about
My heart goes out to those people
Who lost their homes or more
Some don’t even have a roof
Some don’t even have a door.
There were those who lost their loved ones
And nothing can replace
The loss so unspeakable
So we must count on God’s grace
He knows your heart aches
For He has had a few
He knows your hurting deeply
For He has known that too
So Sandy came and went
She left a trail of woe
Destruction’s found all over
No matter where you go.
So lend a helping hand
And do what you can do
To be a Christian show it
Living a life that’s true.
Be just like Jesus and
Live as He would live
To help those in need
And give what you can give.
