We “R” The People…Standing Strong

By Lennox

To The Editor:
I cannot believe the summer is over and we are fast approaching the 2010 holiday season. This was an amazing summer for me; having partici-pated in the Restoring Honor event in DC and hav-ing met so many friendly people along the way. On Oct. 2, I was so lucky to have been able to attend an event hosted by the Tea Party Patriots of New Jersey Great Adventure, Six Flags, in Jackson. Glenn Beck and Judge Andrew Napolitano were the guest speakers. They were inspiring, reverent and plainspoken. Beck speaks plainly; he “says what he means and means what he says.” The judge was warm and welcoming and it was as if you were chatting with an old friend. It was wonderful. There were “9/11” first responders; I call them heroes, spiritual leaders from three faiths and lots of musical entertainment. The weather was great the whole day; God was definitely a guest host that day. Then it rained for almost a week.
One speaker on the stage that day, a Mr. Whalid, was captivating. At first, the audience did not know what to make of it, but by the end of his dialogue, he was given a standing ovation. This virtuous man had the crowd on their feet. He was the son of an Arab father and American mother, taken to the Middle East as a young child and held captive there with his mom for 36 years, and not allowed to return. His mom was abused both physically and emotionally, but never lost her faith in God.
She was a devout Christian and each day would secretly read the bible to her son and promise him that one day, they would return home to America where they could practice their faith openly. He did make it home, but his road was hard. He al-most brought me to tears as he professed his feel-ings for God and country and family and totally denied the fact that the Muslim faction here is peaceful. He also stated that, what the Muslim man says in English is not what he says in his native tongue to his fellow Muslims. We must be wary, said Whalid.
Sometimes we are so caught up in our everyday busy-ness; we lose sight of the fact that there are those among us who would like to deny us our freedoms. We need to stand strong, pray hard, remember to keep our troops in our every prayer and never be ashamed to say “God” in a sentence. Our founders put it in writing; our rights come from God, not from Washington. We must not allow our government to destroy what made us the strongest, most charitable nation on earth. Please vote on Nov. 2, stand strong for your beliefs, and remember, God has your back.
