Trump’s Hollow Words

By Joe Murphy, Town Bank

To the Editor:
I’ve heard it all before, three times, and I still don’t buy it. President Nixon, when running for reelection, told America he had a secret plan to end the Vietnam War. All he did was expand it at immense costs of human life and our taxes.
Later, we had Ronald Reagan, the “I don’t negotiate with terrorists” president who gave us Iran-gate; e.g. “arms for hostages.” Iran got the weapons to release hostages.
Don’t forget George W. Bush and his WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) that he sold us to justify the Iraq war. It should be called “wishes for mass deception.”
Now, along comes Donald Trump with his secret plan to defeat ISIS. The only secret is there is no secret plan. Just like Nixon, Trump is lying. With “Mad Dog” (James) Mattis, many more lives will be wasted as well as tax money.
