To the Editor:
The alternative route through Ocean City does not work. I tried that one day when the Parkway stopped going south about three to four miles above the Ocean City toll booth. There was an accident. I barely got off and headed over to Ocean City, but that beautiful, new multi-million dollar causeway was backed up to a crawl as soon as I got on it and it was not from the Parkway traffic. It was a weekday too. I could have skirted around the golf club and exited just above the toll plaza but I did not know where the accident was.
I have a strong background in land planning and traffic design. The Ocean City side of that causeway is staked with prehistoric lights that just bottle jamb the traffic flow. Someone should do a study on that issue and make some common sense of a better traffic flow pattern into Ocean City.
I will never take that causeway again in the summertime. The only other option would be to head up to Mays Landing to get over the waterway, but the problem is the new Ocean City causeway.
