The South Jersey Gas pipeline proposal is wrong for local community, our environment, and the clean energy future of New Jersey. This pipeline does not serve the needs of the Pinelands; instead the region will see more air and water pollution from the project and little of the electricity or gas.
The ignorance of the general public is understandable. Ordinary citizens don’t have the responsibility to educate themselves on matters of public policy. Elected officials have this responsibility as they make decisions that impact people and in the planet.
Senators and assemblymen — are you aware of the frequent explosions of gas pipelines? Are you aware of the contamination of people’s drinking water by the fracking chemicals? Do you realize the seriousness of global warming? Are you concerned about the health impact of the ultrafine particles emitted if B.L. England gets this pipeline? You people should do some serious study of these issues before leading this greed-driven, morally bankrupt pipeline insanity.
Christie did his evil best to bring incredible profits to S.J. Gas as well as service the fossil fuel trafficking, kingpin Koch bros in his quest for campaign money. Have you any concern for the health and well-being of your constituents and the planet. Prove it, if you can?
Stop perpetuating the worse stereotypes concerning your profession. Please join N.J. Governors Byrne, Kean, Florio and Whitman and a number of your colleagues in the legislature in opposing this pipeline and ensuring the internationally significant Pinelands area is not sacrificed for the convenience of a commercial energy firm. Protect the Pinelands region and the environment of our local community for future generations.
