To the Editor:
Our tiny island has had a dramatic increase in not only the number of bicycle accidents but the severity and nature has hit a new high. We have more than tripled the number of injuries requiring hospital transport and even one fatality. The more shocking part of this is that in not one of these serious accidents was a motor vehicle at fault!
“Share the road” is a two-way message. Bicyclists are required to follow the rules of the road – the same rules as motor vehicles. With the number of people out for a leisurely ride, you folks out to break speed records need to make sure it is safe to pass before darting into traffic.
Bicycles are required to stop at red lights and stop signs.
You are not a pedestrian while riding.
You must yield to emergency vehicles.
Our goal is not to antagonize anybody but to keep everyone safe. If everyone will play by the rules maybe, just maybe we can all have a great time at the shore

Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
