To the Editor:
Recent editorials in major newspapers complained about all of President Trump’s cabinet picks. The authors are troubled with Senator Sessions because he was rejected for a federal judgeship 31 years ago. They are also troubled with Betsy DeVos because she showed an embarrassing lack of knowledge about public education. Oklahoma Attorney General, Scott Pruitt sued the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which he is now expected to run. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, former head of Exxon/Mobil, lacks diplomatic, military or political experience and has close ties to Russia. There are problems with the secretaries of Housing and Urban Development, Energy, Treasury, and Commerce. In addition, the authors mention other officials lack “appropriate experience.”
So, according to the authors, not a single person is qualified for any cabinet position. Not only that but the man sitting in the White House today also is not qualified. And that is exactly what “they just don’t get.”
What have all those qualified and appropriately experienced politicians who sat in the White House and filled those cabinet positions in the past, gotten us? Let’s examine.
The last president spent us into oblivion, doubling the national debt and spending nearly as much as every president before him combined. He pushed through an unaffordable health care system and he lied about it every step of the way. He did nothing to secure our borders, allowing millions to come into our country illegally.
The last two secretaries of state have pretty much left the Middle East in total chaos. Past attorney generals have called us racists and armed Mexican criminals with thousands of weapons through the illegal fast and furious gun running operation.
A secret meeting, just by “coincidence,” with the husband of a presidential candidate and the failure to investigate her use of a private email server by that same presidential candidate when she was secretary of state was very troublesome.
The ambassador to the United Nations went on five talk shows during the Benghazi terrorist attack and lied to the American people.
The Director of National Intelligence “flat-out” lied to Congress during testimony he gave about the government collecting information on private citizens.
The IRS targeted thousands of conservative organizations and individuals preventing them from exercising their constitutional rights during the 2012 election.
Our public school system is a dismal failure in need of overhaul, and options for alternative educational opportunities are necessary.
From my perspective along with those millions of others who voted President Trump into the White House, the same ineffective experience we dealt with the past eight years is exactly not what was wanted. Candidate Trump spoke to the most important issues – jobs, immigration, affordable health care and security.
On the Democratic side, the desire for change also could not have been clearer. However, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the power brokers rigged the election to ensure Senator Sanders would not be their nominee. The last four election cycles, where Democrats lost the House, the Senate, governorships, and hundreds of legislative seats all across the country, demonstrated that the citizens had had it with what we were fed the last eight years and wanted a change. With “in your face” proof the last four election cycles that change was being voted in, why do they still not get it?

Do you think it's appropriate for BLM to call for "Burning down the city" and "Black Vigilantes" because…
