I turn on the news and see people kneeling,
As the music begins to play.
They are kneeling for the right reasons,
So I have something to say.
They don’t kneel for the politicians,
Nor for the Republican or Democrat.
They kneel for all the senseless violence,
Our freedom wasn’t fought for that.
They kneel for the stars and stripes,
For the soldiers who died for that right.
They kneel for the veterans and the fallen,
The ones who fought the good fight.
They kneel for justice through protest,
For the injustice overwhelm the streets.
They kneel to be heard about racism,
You should be kind to everyone you meet.
They don’t kneel for the football season,
Or the players out on the field.
They kneel for justice as the flag raises high,
Americans have hearts and should not yield.
So you may stand for our nation’s anthem,
But please don’t turn away.
For our flag will always stand for freedom,
Kneeling is their right, no matter what you say.
