I turn on the news and see people kneeling,
As the music begins to play.
They may kneel for all the wrong reasons,
But I have something I need to say.
I don’t stand for the politicians,
Not for the Republicans or Democrats.
I don’t stand for all of the senseless violence,
Our freedom wasn’t fought for that.
I stand for the stars and stripes,
For the soldiers who died for that right.
I stand for the veterans and the fallen,
The ones who fought the good fight.
I don’t stand for angry protests,
Or riots overwhelming the streets.
I don’t stand for judgements or racism,
You should be kind to everyone you meet.
I don’t stand for the football season,
Or the players out on the field.
I stand when I see that flag raised high,
Place my hand over my heart and yield.
So you may kneel for our nation’s anthem,
Shake your head or turn away.
But our flag will always stand for freedom,
And I’ll stand no matter what you say.
