To the Editor:
After the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency, what has been accomplished? Not much, if you’re a Democrat. First, they lost another election for a House seat from Kansas but they called this a victory as they narrowed their defeat to six percentage points. Next, they didn’t clinch the House seat in Georgia but Democrat Jon Ossoff said, “This is already a remarkable victory.” This “victory” came after $8 million was poured into his campaign from outside the state trying to drag him across the finish line. He had the endorsement of Hollywood elites along with virtually all the media and still, he couldn’t close the deal. And although he doesn’t even live in the sixth district, this was the best the Democrats could offer.
Add these losses to the other thousand or so legislative seats they have lost at every level over the past 8 years and one wonders if they will ever win anything again with these “progressive” policies.
Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Tom Perez, Keith Ellison and 75-year-old independent Socialist Bernie Sanders, who was “kneecapped” by the DNC (Democratic National Committee) in favor of Hillary Clinton are the “face” of the Democratic Party. What is their message? Obstruct the president of the United States at every opportunity. Vote no on everything. Is that a winning strategy?
Obamacare was signed into law by Democrats only. It is a total disaster and on its last legs. So what are the Democrats offering now? “Free healthcare for everyone” like Socialist countries. If government-run healthcare is so great, why did President Trump just sign legislation allowing veterans to access the private sector for care? Government-run VA healthcare is a total, absolute failure. Do we really want this for everyone? Can someone explain the “free” part of their healthcare plan?
Here are some other “progressive” thoughts and ideas: Free college tuition for everyone. I still need this “free” part explained.
Open borders allowing millions to come into our country unchecked because, as they say, “our country was built by immigrants.” What does that have to do with open borders? From 2010-2014, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) reported 121 homicides by illegals after being convicted of previous crimes but not deported.
Regarding climate change, according to the experts, the five-year drought in California was caused by climate change. They said we better get used to it because it’s here to stay. Recently, however, three weeks of rain on the west coast filled reservoirs and the governor declared the drought over. Their explanation for all the rain is climate change. This seems a bit contradictory but liberals keep pushing this as settled science. Can somebody, please, explain what steps we should take to stop a drought and, better yet, how to stop it from raining? If we’re the cause, we should be able to stop it.
As for our involvement in Iraq being blamed for the lack of funds to fix everything, one only has to remember that our last progressive president, Barack Obama, added $10 trillion to our debt during his eight years, the same as all the other presidents combined for the past 228 years.
I’m looking for President Trump and his excellent cabinet choices to follow our laws, not make them up like the last administration. I want our borders secure. I want taxes cut so we can keep more of the money we earn stimulating the economy and job growth beyond what we’ve witnessed for the last eight years. Stay tuned, big improvements are coming.
