To The Editor:
Recently, while helping a friend sort through her long deceased husband’s belongings, I came across a very yellowed newspaper clipping. I shall quote this remarkable article and ponder of comparing to today’s society.
“Dear Ann Landers: I found this in a newspaper 30 years ago and put it away. It seems to have an uncanny relevance today. I hope you will deem it worthy of your column.”

• From bondage to spiritual faith.
• From spiritual faith to great courage.
• From courage to liberty.
• From liberty to abundance.
• From abundance to selfishness.
• From selfishness to complacency.
• From complacency to apathy.
• From apathy to dependency.
• From dependency back to bondage.
Makes one pause and reflect on the country in which we live.
