To The Editor:
I had an unexpected kindness shown to me on Sat., Aug. 7, while purchasing tires. The manager came to me and said I could save money by purchasing 50,000-mile black walls instead of the 60,000-mile whitewalls I currently have.
A patron across from me spoke up and said, paraphrased, “Oh no, don’t skimp on your tires they are like your feet, cut corners elsewhere, gas, etc…”
I pondered what he said, and agreed in my heart. Later, as I was at the register, the man with the advice was leaving, but said to the manager, “give her the better tire,” and threw $80 on the counter to make up the difference and left.
In today’s world, these things don’t seem to happen very often, but when a complete stranger reaches out, who can measure how uplifting that is. So to my benefactor I say, thank you. And my Father in heaven who happens to own the cattle on a thousand hills…I say, “You never cease to amaze me.”
