To the Editor:
On Aug. 22, I suffered a silent heart attack. At first, I thought I pulled a muscle. After a short period of time, I decided to have it checked out at Cape Regional’s emergency room (ER).
Upon arrival at the hospital, I was immediately serviced. When I described my problem, it was like a bell went off, and I was given individual attention with a team of MD’s (doctor of medicine) at my side and all sorts of tests were in progress.
Within five minutes, I was completely surrounded with help. When it was determined that I actually had a heart attack, “a widowmaker,” I was given pain relief and choices as to where I wanted to be treated for the condition.
When my wife and I picked Penn Cardiac Care, we were told that if I continued to get worse I would be taken by air to Pennsylvania, or if I stabilized, I’d be transported early the next morning by ambulance. It was at Penn I had bypass surgery. Because of the quick, knowledgeable and professional action by Cape Regional, I’m alive today.
When our situation became known, we were overwhelmed by neighbors and friends with offers of help. Cards and phone calls were constant.
I’m humbled by the offers of help with transportation of family, preparation of meals, prayers, encouragement and good wishes for a quick recovery. I’m especially thankful to the folks at the Christ Child Society and the Cape May Garden Club for their prayers and support.
Cape Regional has grown enormously and has become a superior asset to our community. Only because of their knowledge, professionalism, and concern, I have the continued blessing of life today.
I wanted to acknowledge and shout out my thankfulness to all of those who supported us through this event and to encourage support for Cape Regional, so that it can continue its growth and support for those of us who live and vacation here.
Cape May – The number one reason I didn’t vote for Donald Trump was January 6th and I found it incredibly sad that so many Americans turned their back on what happened that day when voting. I respect that the…
