To the Editor:
National Volunteer Appreciation Week begins April 12 and Animal Outreach of Cape May County wishes to express our sincere thanks to the many dedicated volunteers who come in to the Adoption Center every day! These are the people who ensure that our cats and kittens have a warm and comfortable place to live until they find their forever home.
Our volunteers work very hard – keeping a clean and healthy environment requires a lot of work! Everything in the Center gets a thorough cleaning from top to bottom every morning. Afternoon and evening volunteers also come in each day to make sure that the Center is kept tidy, including cleaning litter pans and replenishing food and water bowls. Other individuals work tirelessly to do all the laundry every day. These volunteers of various ages take time away from their busy lives to help the animals at the Center by giving them much needed love and attention.
Not only do we have volunteers to do the cleaning, but one individual takes care of wellness checks and administers medications, as necessary, prescribed by our veterinarian. Still another does the shopping for the Center every week and spends a great deal of time looking for the best value of each item. And, there are many others who help at fundraising events.
We have incredible volunteers who open their homes as fosters to young kittens that aren’t quite ready to come to the Center. We also rely on foster volunteers for dogs in our care, who come to the center to “meet and greet” their potential new families. These foster families give so much of their time and love to these precious animals that sometimes it is hard to let them go!
We could not exist without the tireless efforts of these caring volunteers – they make a huge difference! All you need to do is come visit the Adoption Center at 600 Park Boulevard in West Cape May to see our pampered kitties and dogs appreciating the attention.
So we say thank you Animal Outreach volunteers! We could not do what we do without each and every one of you!
