To The Editor:
Since we’re deep in baseball season, a sports analogy comes to mind. If a team is doing poorly, one has to ask how safe is the manager’s job and would his contract be renewed.
Our team’s manager, President Obama, has failed on two key parts of the “game.” We are losing ground in a war he expanded in Afghanistan wasting billions, and more important, wasting precious lives. We are less secure than we were when he expanded this conflict.
At the same time, the economy has continued to tumble further. He promised, when he spent almost $1 trillion on a wasteful stimulus plan, that unemployment would fall. Now it’s at 9.5 percent. At the same time he has committed to an extravagant health care plan that will only exacerbate the problem by raising taxes and further depressing the economy. People are afraid to spend and businesses are unwilling to hire given the extreme uncertainty, so we can expect no relief on the jobs front anytime soon.
With these two key factors (among many others) in mind I would have to think that our team manager’s job is, and should be, in severe jeopardy.
If he was running my team, I know that he’d be a candidate for being sent down to the minors.
