To The Editor:
Readers should familiarize themselves with Senate Bill 1643, the Spay/Neuter Bill, now pending in the New Jersey Senate, and if they are in favor, they should call or e-mail State Sen. Jeff Van Drew, a cosponsor, and let him know of their support.
The bill requires that all cats and dogs released from shelters and pounds be sterilized, with certain exceptions, and establishes a penalty for noncompliance.
The net result of this legislation, if passed, would be fewer unwanted animals being born, thus reducing the number of mistreated, abandoned or euthanized animals.
