To The Editor:
Sounds of patriotic brass band music will be history in Cape May this July. Each summer the Lower Cape May Regional summer music program integrated students, teachers, and just musicians looking for a gig to play in our beautiful town. Due to money and budget cuts we have been hearing about programs such as the Brass Summer Band and summer school music program, that kept us together as a community and added revenue to the tourism economy that Cape May County depends on, seemed like a necessary reduction.
It’s time to look at the wealth of talent and dedication, and plain simple hard work of these dedicated musicians. It touched my life personally. I am the mom of a child who has participated in the music program with the help and patience of teachers, and music directors in band and orchestra.
My son who was affected with a need for extra support in his education, was kept in the mainstream school because of his interest in the band, and is succeeding in high school. For the children like my son in future years, programs like band may be their saving grace. Support the band programs at the Lower school board meeting on May 27 at 7 p.m. Then we won’t have to say that this will be the day the music died.

Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
