To The Editor:
Summertime would be enjoyable for all if not for the inconsiderate behavior of a few. These are some examples:
1.People who ride their bikes while their dog runs alongside – this is cruel. Ask yourself how you would like to run in 80-90 degree heat wearing a fur coat and going at someone else’s pace. Besides, dogs like to walk and sniff. If they run, it’s to catch a squirrel or rabbit, not just for the sake of running.
2. People who ride their bikes in the middle of the road and block traffic – Bicyclists love to remind car drivers to “share the road,” but many don’t do that themselves. They behave as if they own the road. They often do not have the courtesy to move to the side even when they clearly have room and they’re blocking traffic.
3. People who do not leash their dogs. When people see your dog loose on the beach, that prevents them from taking their leashed dogs for a walk on the beach for fear of a confrontation.
4. Loud motorcycles and scooters, please put a decent muffler on your bike. When you ride by, you wake up babies, interrupt movie programs, etc.
5. Off-road vehicles on the Cape May Point State Park beach, this is noise pollution, air pollution, and a waste of taxpayer dollars (gas, etc.). It also mars the beauty of the beach by putting tire tracks all over it.
The common denominator in all of the above is inconsiderate behavior, directed toward either animals or humans. Please, be considerate of others.
