To The Editor:
While obviously very well versed in the crackpot “literature” of the paranoid extreme right, Michael C. Tourette has clearly never paid much attention to more traditional history, the kind written by respected historians who recount events as they actually occurred.
To his credit, Tourette has apparently mastered the mental gymnastics necessary to blame all of the world’s ills on those who disagree with his politics. For instance, Tourette finds anti-Catholic conspiracy under every leaf, while managing to ignore the devastating, perhaps fatal damage done to the Church by her own child-fondling clergy and criminal- enabling leadership.
Tourette accuses others of hateful politics, while espousing the profoundly un-American view that his personal religious beliefs ought to trump the civil rights of certain Americans.
Tourette manages to blame the evils of communism as well as the evils of fascism on the same “liberal” group of people, a neat trick, I must say. We don’t need a history book to prove that one wrong…a dictionary will suffice.
All told, I believe that Tourette should thank his lucky stars that he lives in a country that will give his pathetically warped views an airing on the editorial page of a well-read community newspaper.
I guess that might be all the proof one needs to rightly conclude that the sky is not actually falling, and that his views are paranoid poppycock.
