To the Editor:
Please tell me that you do not pay Jack Fichter for the drivel he spews! But since I see his by-line in other parts of your paper, I have to conclude you do.
His column, “Thank a Liberal for Your Good Life” in the Oct. 20 issue of your paper, left me speechless. He gave credit to “Progressives, Liberals and Democrats” for next to everything, even the coming of Christ. He then turns around and blames Republicans and Conservatives for every wrong, ever, in the world. Another great example of a Liberal’s so called open-mind.
I believe he will twist facts to fit into his world view. He gives “Progressives, Liberals and Democrats” credit for the space program. President Eisenhower, a Republican, started our space program. But I’m sure Fichter will claim he was a Progressive, so that is why he can put that on his list.
Republicans fought for the Civil Rights Acts of the 60s in Congress. The Democrats opposed them. But again Fichter will twist. I guess they were good Republicans.
His list is far too long to comment on all. But I would suggest that Fichter find some real history books and read them.
I found his column offensive. But the last lines truly showed him to be an angry, nasty, closed-minded individual. No matter where he got those words.
But since I am a Christian Conservative Republican it’s all right to offend me.
