Retiree

By Graff

The influx of dogs this summer was horrendous. Now no one likes dog’s more than I do, but it’s not very animalistic to bring one down to the shore, and let it poop and bark on a deck or a sidewalk. Renter’s are ignoring the lease restrictions and dogging it regardless. The results from their presence is flies, flies, and more flies. It’s so bad now, you can only relax on the beach, when the wind is blowing towards land. I do blame the excessive scrappings from poop, for the fly invasion. I am not talking green heads, god knows they are a pain, but we can eliminate a lot of the black hangon ones. And I don’t think people realize how irritating a yapper on the deck can be. Yapping and barking travels for blocks and hinders opening the doors and windows for that summer sea breeze. You mean to tell me Mr. and Mrs. dog owner, you can’t part with the pet for a trip to the beach. Everytime I see someone walking a dog, I wonder WHY? Why does anyone need a dog at the seashore, where your supposed to relax. Is relaxing picking up poop, carrying it, and dumping it in a trash can really fun? Ever wash out a trash can with “maggots” caused from poop.. It is the most disgusting act imaginable, not to mention kids playing near the cans. Pretty soon, there will be a viral case outbreak from excretion, and then no more shore. Recently Cape May passed a law to stop smoking on beaches and boardwalks, and the dog problem is next. I am asking our legislator’s who read these articles to thin about a law, not to stop people from bringing “FIDO” to the resorts, but to make some accomodations to cleanup after him a more sanitary action. And make those caring owner’s, secure their dog’s in the car when driving around. That is a real accident waiting to happen.
