To The Editor:
I would like to make everyone aware that there are very kind and generous people in North Wildwood and the surrounding areas. My husband, Jerry Burke, died on Aug. 14 at 9:15 p.m. after a series of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He had been diagnosed only a month earlier.
On Fri., Aug. 13, I had been advised the cancer had spread which was why my husband could no longer walk. After family and doctors conversed, a decision was made to bring him home for hospice since the cancer was throughout. Jerry asked me to be able to look out of the window so the staff moved him to a new room so we could have privacy.
The staff at Cape Regional Medical Center, 4 East, were wonderful. Jerry’s brothers and sisters were there as well as my children, grandchildren and myself. Arrangements were made for Jerry to come home on Monday, but he never made it.
As word spread of Jerry’s illness, friends sent food and gift cards. Thanks to all of you at Seventh and Atlantic, and everywhere. When hearing of Jerry’s death, the Knights of Columbus Council 2572 made me aware that we did not have to worry about Jerry’s luncheon. They supplied everything.
All the cooks, servers and bartenders volunteered their time. The food was all homemade and delicious. A special thanks to the Elks Lodge for their kindness. After being away since Aug. 4 for brain surgery, I am hoping to be well enough to be able to volunteer again. Thanks to Jerry’s friends at the Polonia for their trays of sandwiches, homemade cakes and brownies; to Terry and Tom for their trays of sandwiches; to Cass and Bill for sending us a homemade dinner and a special thanks to Tom and Annarae for allowing Jerry to stay with you during my hospital stay for surgery, and last but not least, to Gene and Pat Laffey for all their support and kindness during these last two years of both of our illnesses.
I’m sorry for the delay in writing this letter, but every day is a challenge for me since I sometimes can’t believe Jerry’s gone. My family and myself thank all of you for all you’ve done for us. I hope to be well enough some day to get back to helping others. Jerry, I love and miss you but I know your pain is gone and you’re in a better place.

Wildwood – So Liberals here on spout off, here's a REAL question for you.
Do you think it's appropriate for BLM to call for "Burning down the city" and "Black Vigilantes" because…
