Raising Minimum Wage

I read with great interest the former assemblyman’s letter to the editor March 16.
With so many businesses which once made N.J. an employable state now leaving, along with the huge exodus of residents who can no longer afford to live in a state with such ridiculous taxes and living expenses, many of those who must continue to live here, must work any job in order to support their families. Does the minimum wage need to be increased to help these working families? Yes. Can N.J. afford to jump that wage to $15 an hour in one big step? No. Where in the world would the money come from? How much private industry would close shop? Is there anyone thinking in Trenton?
Democrats in the state are very short-sighted and have a long history of pandering to individuals who really believe their false promises, especially when it comes to election time. We all have heard the old line about promises, everybody’s got one. The Democratic majority in New Jersey has had a very long time to work on the issues impacting our state. What this writer recognizes is that the Democratic majority has incessantly come up with nothing but Band-Aid fixes for their mismanagement of our state. This mismanagement has impacted our cost of living from car insurance to medical insurance to property/school taxes. The list could just go on and on, and it does.
Advice to all voters this election, maybe it is time for change. Watch those election ads carefully; read those campaign flyers carefully also – you just might realize they are really saying nothing meaningful or worthwhile. Sometimes it takes change to improve your situation. Think about that the next time you go out to vote.
