To the Editor:
After reading the article in the Cape May County Herald regarding extending Route 55, a quick and easy solution is during the summer months, make Route 347 one way north and Route 47 one way south. This would make two lanes going in each direction.
The intersection in Dennisville could become an amber flashing light for caution. The incoming traffic coming north from Route 47 going south would bear right, as traffic going north would proceed straight onto Route 347.
Place a few temporary ‘One Way’ signs along Route 347 north and Route 47 south during the summer months.
There would be no additional construction needed, and no destruction of sensitive wetlands or open space. Keep the scenic ride along Routes 47 and 347 environmentally friendly. Double lanes in both directions would resolve traffic issues during the summer months and result in safer highways.
