To the Editor:
I was going to stay quiet and let Donald Trump be his own worst enemy. However, when someone like John Cochrane writes a letter like he did, well, it is time to once again, bring the facts to the argument.
For the record, if Cochrane would go to politifact.com (a nonpartisan arm of the Tampa Bay Times) regarding his statement the anti-Obama birther movement was actually started in 2007 and 2008 by Hillary Clinton, they said back in September 2015 that this is false! If you go to factcheck.org (again, a nonpartisan group run by the Annenberg Public Policy Center) you would find that it was done by overzealous Hillary Clinton supporters, not anybody associated with the 2008 Clinton presidential campaign.
Cochrane also questions why we need to even see Trump’s tax returns. Richard Nixon started this action to prove that he was what he said he was. However, Trump has said two different things. He has said that he is under audit; therefore he can’t release his tax returns. However, Warren Buffett, also under audit, did release his.
He has also said that if Clinton were to release the 35,000 missing emails he would then release them (even though they are still under audit).
The reason the candidate will not release his returns is that if they were released it would prove one of, if not all of these things: He is not as rich as he claims to be. He does not pay taxes (much like the ones he released in 1981). He doesn’t donate to charity (we know that he has not donated to the Donald J. Trump Foundation since 2008). He is heavily in debt to places like China or Russia.
Although Cochrane did not point out the “deplorables” comment by Clinton, let’s take a look at some of the groups that are supporting Trump, including the former Imperial Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan David Duke, The American Renaissance, The American Freedom Party and The Council of Conservative Citizens (all listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as white supremacist organizations). Why not call these groups (that have endorsed Trump) deplorable?
I am with Clinton and know that Trump is the most dangerous man to ever run for president of the United States!
