To The Editor:
Over the years there has always been talk of “watch out for shore contractors.” Well I now know how it feels first hand. After putting out work for bids, I hired a contractor in May 2009. I checked the New Jersey construction website and found this contractor to be listed as license current and paid. My mistake was not to check and see if he was bonded as well.
After treating the contractor like a brother for almost a year, you guessed it, he stopped doing work and stopped taking calls.
Buyer beware is not enough. There ought to be a law. The worst part is some of the work done was not to code and unsafe as well.
I did however, find another local contractor to redo and complete work I had already paid for, and they did an excellent job passing inspection.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
