To The Editor:
With all the wheeling and dealing that was the smelly “sausage making” characterizing the passage of the health-care bill, the public not only expressed their dismay at the corrupt process, but tried without success to tell Congress and the Administration they really didn’t care for the sausage product it produced. Deaf ears.
Between now and November we will be witness to a knock-down-drag out war between the two major parties. The Dems will attempt to paint the GOP as the heartless uncaring villain trying to block their gifts to American humanity. The GOP will pick apart every negative insight to emerge, as we know more about the Dem’s bill. Plus they seem to be launching a “repeal and replace” strategy and hope to see large Democratic seat losses come fall. To me this seems a pipe dream because the GOP would have to get veto-proof majorities to override Obama’s veto. Or get big majorities and displace Obama in 2012. That’s’ quite a reach.
As the two parties slug it out, it is time for the people who live outside the toxic environment of the Beltway to make their voices heard. Not just Tea Party rallies but votes against those who would hurl us into a France-like socialist state and abet in the expansion of government. It is up to us; the politicians are looking after themselves, not us. Despite all the best-for-America rhetoric, both parties are engaged in a quest for power.
In the months untill November and at the polls, let’s remind them who they work for (or should) and that they can’t cram stuff down our throats any more…we’ve had enough.
