Recently, in a speech defending global warming, President Obama made the statement that if those who didn’t believe in global warming, were alive back in the days of Columbus, they would have been leaders of the flat-earth society.
Whether I believe in global warming or not, the president has no right to level insults at those who disagree with his point of view. He is all Americans’ leader; he should act like it. It’s almost like he’s a 12-year-old kid; if you don’t think he’s right, he’ll call you names.
I personally feel very insulted by this comment. I have lived through many administrations; some I liked and some I didn’t. But I have never felt so ostracized as President Obama’s comments made me to feel. He is the leader of us all, no matter what view we hold on global warming.
He’s still our president, and should realize that not everyone under his leadership is going to share his views on everything, and he, as president, should be strong enough to accommodate those who think differently.
