To The Editor:
My husband and I attended the Spring Swing Concert at Lower Cape May Regional High School on June 9. What a great evening of a nice variety of music. Not many people attended, which was very sad as the jazz choir and jazz band put on a wonderful concert.
They put a lot of work into the evening and there were not even a lot of students in attendance to support their fellow students who performed. What a shame. Sandra Beane-Fox, John Drechen, Mary Stewart, Joe Blong, Chucky Nagel and Lucia Torres did a lot of preparation, and it came together beautifully.
I hope it will continue to be held on a separate night from the art show as when it is the same night it is hard to have time to see all there is to see and enjoy.
People are quick to complain about teens but they don’t take the time to attend school functions and see and hear what great things they are learning and just what they can do.
Please take time to support these school activities. I’m sure it is very discouraging to look from the stage and see very few people in attendance after all the time and work spent putting the program together.
Thank you, students, teachers and other support people for the beautiful music and a great evening. It was a much nicer way to spend two hours than sitting at home watching television. Attend the next concert. You will be pleasantly surprised at how you will enjoy the evening and how well they sing and have learned their instruments.
