Pitts Will Represent People; Not the Party

By SARACCO

To The Editor:
As a senior and long-time resident, I feel compelled to speak out about the upcoming election for Ward 1. Our current councilman, Tom Conrad has been a disappointment, to say the least.
I saw an interview that he claims he held taxes down. You have to be kidding. I was astounded that he said that after giving the store away in employee contracts. He and the other Republican councilmen signed these contracts just a month before the new administration came to office.
That is politics at its absolute worst. It was no accident that the lone Democrat had the courage to say no. Four Republicans say yes, one Democrat says no, and the public gets to foot the bill. Those contracts did a lot of damage to this town and our current economic problems are directly related to it. And hardest hit of all are we seniors who retired to this area.
Conrad is an example of a career politician who does what the party asks, and that is exactly what’s wrong with government at every level these days. That is why I am supporting Janet Pitts. Unlike Conrad, she actually has been standing up for our town. She will answer to the people, not the Republican Party. Pitts has often stood at the microphone at council meetings and spoken out. I watch the meeting on TV and it’s obvious she does her homework.
Pitts is fiscally responsible and will make sure we get our money’s worth from government It comes down to this: Janet Pitts has the courage to fight for us, Tom Conrad doesn’t. I am totally confident she will represent the people, and not a political party.
