To the Editor:
After four years in office, you get a pretty good picture of your officials. And as most of us would agree, it’s not what you say; it’s what you do that counts. And that is why I cannot support Tom Conrad for another term as councilman in Ward 1.
After four years in office, I ask Conrad to tell me what he has done; not what he hopes to do. And, truthfully, Conrad’s term has not exactly been a bell-ringer.
Like most people, I vote for the person, not the party. There was a time when to be a part of the party system was a benefit, but not now. The parties at one time were concerned with helping people, but now it seems they are only out to help themselves. I’m sick of watching all the Republicans voting one way, while all the Democrats vote the other.
Even the Republicans know people have had it with the political parties. Try to find the word “Republican” on Conrad’s handout. Bring a magnifying glass; better yet bring a powerful microscope. So it’s an independent for me; that’s why I’m backing Janet Pitts in Ward 1.
Pitts has been a fixture at council meetings for years, speaking out on numerous occasions, and especially defending the seniors and poor in our area. She has spoken out vigorously against the give-away contracts signed by Conrad, and is the one person with the courage to stand their ground for our benefit.
This election is crucial for our town and the reason I’m going with the best candidate. Janet Pitts for Ward 1 Council, the Common Sense Independent.
