To the Editor:
On Dec. 16, 2022, we parked our car in Cape May to go shopping. I used a credit card to pay for parking. The charge was $4. I have the ticket showing a $4 charge.
My credit card was charged $6, so I started emailing Cape May officials. I finally received a response from Eric Prusinski (Public Works superintendent). We exchanged several emails. He wanted to see the charge on my next credit card statement, which I supplied in January.Someone did call me several weeks ago to verify my mailing address.
On Feb. 13, I received a check from Cape May. Unbelievably, they deducted 60 cents for postage and sent a check for $1.40. I find this totally unacceptable. I don’t believe this is an isolated incident.
How many people are overcharged and just didn’t notice the difference on their credit card bills? This just may be a widespread issue.
If you park your car in Cape May and use a credit card, please check your credit card statement to ensure the amounts match.
