Oath Keepers Coming to Cape May County

By Picinich

Oath Keepers, who and what are they? Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of current and formerly serving military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, peace officers, and firefighters who will fulfill the Oath we swore, with the support of like minded citizens who take an Oath to stand with us, to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God. Our Oath is to the Constitution.
There is, at this time, a debate within the ranks of the military regarding their oath. Some mistakenly believe they must follow any order the President issues. But you can rest assured that many others in the military do understand that their loyalty is to the Constitution, and understand what that means.
The mission of Oath Keepers is to vastly increase their numbers. We are in a battle for the hearts and minds of our own troops. To win that battle, Oath Keepers uses written and video materials created by active duty military, veterans (especially combat vets), and peace officers to reach, teach, and inspire our brothers in arms in the military and police to fulfill their oaths and stand as guardians of the Republic.
Stewart Rhodes established Oath Keepers April 19, 2009. Stewart is the founder and Director of Oath Keepers. He served as a U.S. Army paratrooper until disabled in a rough terrain parachuting accident during a night jump. He is a former firearms instructor and former member of Rep. Ron Paul’s D.C. staff.
Stewart previously wrote the monthly Enemy at the Gates column for S.W.A.T. Magazine.
Stewart graduated from Yale Law School in 2004, where his paper “Solving the Puzzle of Enemy Combatant Status” won Yale’s Miller prize for best paper on the Bill of Rights. He assisted teaching U.S. military history at Yale, was a Yale Research Scholar, and is writing a book on the dangers of applying the laws of war to the American people.
Oath Keepers is not just for Military and First Responders, but also for any citizen who believes in the Constitution and that it is the law of the land. Changes need to be made in D.C., but its not going to start there. It has to happen locally first, in our communities, between our neighbors and friends, and amongst our local elected officials. That’s why Oath Keepers is proud to announce our newest chapter here in Cape May County.
Our first meeting will be held Feb. 21, at 6 p.m. The location is the Old Historic Court House building on North Main Street (RT 9) in Court House. We encourage all to attend so we can take the first step in saving the Republic.
