To The Editor:
Just when things appear so complicated, simplicity jumps into view. The dilemma of our current political picture has really made it easy for me. The circumstances of the upcoming elections complicate my philosophy of voting no one in, but voting everyone out.
Locally, does someone who has served, been a Democrat and a Republican, now running as an Independent accomplish my goals? At the county level, having endorsed a friend during the primaries who is an incumbent has me at complete odds with myself, especially now that the opposing party has fielded a respectable challenge.
On a state and national level, I believe we need to look at our British friends who are abandoning party politics for plural politics. Not one direction or another but all parties working together. With both our parties being so influenced by their fringe, I don’t know how to accomplish much compromise anytime real soon.
I know that simply voting along party lines will only perpetuate the problem, yet I am just not ready for another round of trickle down. Until real leaders emerge, capable of causing unity, we are stuck in a miserable quagmire. While both parties stand their ground, the government will stand still. I think I’ll not get past the Country Club Tavern (CCT) this Election Day and will probably contribute just as much as many that do.
To the now horrified politically correct, I will say, if I have influence over anyone, it is probably because they want to be under the influence and keeping them from the polls is a good thing. I might add that I have attended many political gatherings and they were not exactly held at our local churches, indignation here, will hardly be righteous.
So for me, it is no DNC, no GOP, I’m gonna go to the CCT (Country Club Tavern).
